Company overview

AGCO develops high-performance agricultural equipment and digital solutions for precision farming. Its lineup includes tractors, combines, sprayers, and seeding systems under brands such as Fendt, Massey Ferguson, and Valtra, each of which serves a distinct segment of the global farming market while integrating automation, GPS guidance, and smart sensors to optimize yield and efficiency. Through its Fuse and PTx technology platforms, AGCO connects machines across mixed fleets, allowing farmers to analyze field data, manage operations remotely, and automate everything from planting depth to fuel use. The company’s digital ecosystem turns its equipment into intelligent, data-connected assets that improve productivity and resource efficiency across the agricultural lifecycle.

AGCO’s hybrid revenue model blends traditional equipment sales with recurring digital and precision-farming subscriptions. Farmers typically buy their machines outright (often financed through AGCO’s own lending programs), but continue to pay for software, telematics, and connected services that enhance machine performance over time. Platforms like AGCO Connect and the PTx suite provide real-time fleet visibility, automated machine control, and cross-brand data integration, while services such as TerraStar deliver satellite-based positioning corrections that refine GPS accuracy through Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) subscriptions. The result is a model in which ownership remains with the farmer, but intelligence and optimization flow continuously through software and data.

“People want to experiment with what works for them financially, so we offer several models,” explains AGCO Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Eric Hansotia. “Customers can return the hardware, purchase it outright, and pay for ongoing subscriptions in a few different ways. That subscription layer includes data management tools that help farmers pull data from any piece of machinery—whether it’s a sprayer or a planter—and manage how that data is used and optimized. It’s a big part of our business, and we see it becoming increasingly subscription-based.”
