Company overview
Agtonomy builds the AI software that turns existing tractors and land management vehicles into autonomous machines. The company doesn’t manufacture equipment; instead, it partners with OEMs like Kubota, Bobcat, and Clemens to embed its Agtonomy Platform directly into their hardware at the factory level. The platform uses vision-based navigation and onboard AI to drive a tractor through vineyard rows, orchard alleys, and open fields without a human in the seat, handling tasks like mowing, spraying, weeding, and hauling. It works without base stations or pre-mapped paths: integrated cellular and Starlink connectivity lets the system operate from day one, and where 3D satellite imagery is available, site setup can be done remotely. A fleet dashboard gives the grower a single view of every autonomous machine across multiple properties regardless of brand or model, and the AI learns from field conditions to improve routing and task execution over time. The third-generation platform, released in April 2025, added support for turf and open-field operations alongside the original permanent-crop focus, and expanded OEM equipment support so a grower with a mixed fleet can manage Kubota and Bobcat machines from the same interface.
The grower buys or already owns the physical equipment from the OEM; Agtonomy provides the autonomy layer as a robots-as-a-service offering that makes the machine run itself. By embedding its platform at the factory level rather than retrofitting after the sale, Agtonomy keeps deployment costs low and gives the OEM a software-defined capability that differentiates its hardware in the market. Each autonomous unit generates ongoing software and services revenue for Agtonomy on top of the OEM's hardware sale, with the model designed to scale with the number of machines and acres under management.

"Farmers trust their brands,” says Tim Bucher, co-Founder and CEO at Agtonomy. “They need the dealer networks, the parts, the service. Buying farm equipment from a startup isn't realistic. That's why Agtonomy is helping manufacturers digitally transform, rather than disrupt.”
