Company overview
Electro Industries / GaugeTech, a Hubbell Power Systems subsidiary, manufactures the power meters that utilities, facility managers, and industrial operators install in electrical panels and substations to measure exactly how much energy is flowing through a building or a piece of the grid. The Nexus 1500+ is the flagship: a power quality meter that self-calibrates every ten seconds, supports six communication ports including dual Ethernet, and carries encrypted cybersecurity for grid-critical installations. The Shark 200 records usage continuously and sends alarm notifications when it detects conditions like voltage drops or unusual demand spikes. The ST40 is a compact DIN rail-mounted version for tight spaces like machine enclosures. The company also makes current transformers and the ProtoCom gateway that connects meters to existing building management systems. Every meter feeds into EnergyPQA.com, EIG's cloud platform, which uses machine learning to predict energy usage, rank facilities by waste, and flag power quality problems before they cause outages.
A customer buys the power meters outright and installs them in panels and substations as long-lived capital assets. The recurring relationship comes through EnergyPQA.com, which delivers AI-driven analytics, demand prediction, and power quality insights as an ongoing hybrid hardware-as-a-service subscription bundled on top of the installed meter data. As the machine learning models improve and new tools ship—like the DataLink API that lets customers pipe meter data into their own applications—every installed meter becomes more useful without hardware replacement. The company also sells engineering services for turnkey commissioning and training, creating an additional revenue line at the point of deployment.
