Lumo provides an all-in-one precision irrigation system built around its Lumo One Smart Valves and cloud-based Ops Center. The smart valves are solar-powered, wireless, and equipped with a built-in flow meter, onboard computer, and mesh networking, allowing growers to measure real-time flow, pressure, and block-level volumes while remotely controlling irrigations 24/7. With no central controller required, each valve acts as a self-contained automation and sensing node; one “base” valve connects to the internet via a cellular modem, while all other valves mesh across large acreage. The Ops Center provides flexible scheduling, fault detection, “Flow Vision” dashboards, leak alerts, and compliance-ready water-use reporting. Lumo also offers Pump Automation, which uses block-level telemetry to automatically start, stop, and protect pumps from dry runs, cavitation, pressure spikes, and other failures—an increasingly critical capability for large ranches irrigating at night or off-peak.

The company operates a subscription hardware + software model rather than traditional one-time hardware sales. This structure is designed to lower upfront capital expenses and align Lumo’s incentives with growers’ long-term irrigation performance. Pricing is determined by the number of valves needed, acreage, and any site-specific requirements. The annual subscription includes the Ops Center software and all updates, connectivity via cellular + mesh networking, telemetry and alerting, a lifetime warranty on all smart valves, and unlimited online and in-field support. Because the subscription bundles hardware, software, connectivity, and service into one offering—replacing the cost of controllers, solenoids, telemetry units, and third-party software—Lumo functions as a true Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) provider.
