Milestone Systems provides an open, vendor-neutral video management platform used to manage and analyze video across large, distributed surveillance environments. The company’s hardware lineup centers on the Husky IVO video appliances: enterprise-grade recording servers built with Dell Technologies hardware and pre-loaded with Milestone’s XProtect VMS. These appliances support high camera counts, high-throughput recording, GPU-enabled viewing, and integration with more than 14,000 third-party cameras, sensors, and access control devices. XProtect software provides centralized video management, real-time monitoring, federated site management, alarm handling, mapping tools, and advanced operator workflows. Additional software offerings include Arcules (cloud-based VSaaS), BriefCam (video analytics), and operator tools such as Smart Map and Alarm Manager.
Milestone’s business model is a hybrid of CapEx and recurring subscription software. Husky IVO appliances are purchased upfront as customer-owned hardware, while XProtect is licensed on a perpetual model with optional Milestone Care subscriptions that provide ongoing software updates, security fixes, feature upgrades, and technical support. Arcules is delivered as a cloud subscription service. Across the portfolio, recurring revenue comes from Care subscriptions, cloud storage, managed services, and video analytics features that extend the lifecycle and performance of Milestone’s deployed systems.
